US youngsters get the Tottenham Hotspur experience

The Club recently hosted young players from the USA taking part in an International Player Development Residential Programme delivered in partnership with Under Armour and Elite Tournaments.
The U13 and U15 players were hand-picked by coaches from our Global Coaching team at the Tottenham Hotspur America Trophy held in Maryland back in December.
The group had a unique opportunity to train at Hotspur Way and play fixtures against Academy teams from Tottenham Hotspur, Leyton Orient and Luton Town.
They were also ball boys at both our Open Training session at White Hart Lane and the match against Aston Villa earlier this month, getting the chance to meet Harry Kane along the way.
Grant Cornwell MBE, Head of Global Coaching, said: “It has been a fantastic experience for these young players to train in the world class facilities we have at Tottenham Hotspur, test themselves against high quality English opposition and take in a matchday at White Hart Lane.
“The enthusiasm and ability of the players was clear to see and shows how the game is continuing to develop positively in North America.
“Through our growing network of youth partner clubs in the States, we hope to give more young players from that part of the world the opportunity to improve their game with us and perhaps follow in the footsteps of DeAndre Yedlin one day by playing in the Premier League.”
Shawn Flynn, Director of Global Football, Under Armour, said: “As we continue to expand in the football category at Under Armour, this event has proved to be a very successful platform. Combining the global reach and first class facilities and coaching at Tottenham Hotspur with the excellence of Elite Tournaments, we have grown this programme with these key partners each of the past three years.
"We look forward to continuing to provide this opportunity and expanding into additional markets in North America to give more elite young players the opportunity to have this unique experience.”
Matthew Libber, Vice President of Operations and Business Development, Elite Tournaments, said: “The experience the players receive from the Tottenham Hotspur America Trophy and subsequent Residential Programme is simply unmatched. The players receive a first class training opportunity as well as competitive games against some of the best academy sides in England. There is no other programme like this in the world and Elite Tournaments is honoured to be a part of it.”
