Ugo Ehiogu has spoken about 'a sense of excitement' as our Under-21s prepare to face Manchester United in a top-of-the-table showdown in the Barclays U21 Premier League at Old Trafford this evening.
The lads take a six-match unbeaten run to the biggest stage of all with an impressive 4-0 victory against Everton last time out.
It's an incredible race for the title.
United currently sit top of the pile and we're second with a game in hand. However, with nine matches remaining, there are only four points between United and Sunderland in 10th!
There are no play-offs this season so it's a straight battle for top honours.
"This will be the biggest stadium the lads play at this season and they are looking forward to it," said coach Ugo. "It's a stage where you want to go out and play well.
"We've nine matches to go and we're within touching distance of the top of the table. The table shows just how competitive this Under-21 league is and we've still to play the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and City who are all right up there. It's a good situation for us.
"It will be a great experience for the players tonight, there is a real sense of excitement and determination about them and I just hope we go out there and take our chances."
