Our Under-18s opened their account in the Premier Academy League with a 3-2 win at Huddersfield on Saturday.
Trailing early, they recovered to lead 2-1 with goals from Roman Michael-Percil after 29 minutes and Ronnie Hawkins - pictured above - three minutes into the second half only for the Terriers to level on the hour.
However, Jesse Waller Lassen's shot from the edge of the box was deflected home 10 minutes later to secure maximum points at Huddersfield Canalside.
"We started slowly and deserved to go a goal down and that was basically down to poor defending," reported coach Alex Inglethorpe.
"Equally, we deserved to get back into the game. It was a good move down the right, Roman was the spare man and he finished well.
"We started the second half much brighter. Ronnie curled home a free-kick for 2-1, something he works on a lot in training, we passed the ball better and showed more intelligence.
"But then we lost our way a little and conceded a goal caused by poor technical errors, so that was disappointing.
"I thought we deserved to win and we got there when Jesse's shot was deflected home.
"Overall, I was pleased with the lads. It was something different as we had an overnight stay in Huddersfield to prepare for the game and that's something they'll have to get used to if they progress to a loan or, hopefully, up to the first team."
