U18s ready to host Royals

Tue 04 February 2014, 17:36|Tottenham Hotspur

Our Under-18s players are in confident mood heading into Wednesday’s home match against Reading.

We play host to the Royals at lunchtime – a match that was initially scheduled to take place at Reading – off the back of Saturday’s triumph against Norwich City.

Second half goals from Cy Goddard, Emmanuel Sonupe and Anthony Georgiou sealed the victory at the weekend after we fell behind just before the interval.

And Sonupe – who stepped off the bench and had an impact on the game against the Canaries – hopes we can continue that trend of playing well this midweek.

“Obviously I started the FA Youth Cup game so I was expecting to be on the bench for Norwich, but it was good to get a goal and an assist off the bench,” Emmanuel said.

“Hopefully I can score a few more goals against Reading. We know we’re a good team, even when we do go 1-0 down. We showed we can still come back and win the game. We’re looking for another good performance now.”

Emmanuel’s sentiments were echoed by Filip Lesniak, who believes we are in good shape to claim maximum points on Wednesday.

“We did well against Norwich in the league and now we hope for another good result against Reading,” said the Slovakian Under-17 international.

“We showed our character at the weekend. We were a bit disappointed with the first half because we were 1-0 down but we showed desire to win so we were pleased at the end.

“Everyone’s looking forward to Wednesday’s game now and hopefully we will play well.”
