U18 v Watford

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Watford U18s 3, Spurs 0

Coach Pat Holland admitted it was hard to criticise his side despite the 3-0 scoreline at Watford on Saturday.

The game could have gone either way but both Charlie Lee and Charlie Daniels (pictured left) went close before a couple of defensive lapses proved costly.

Coach Pat takes up the story: "I thought Watford looked more likely to score in the first 20 minutes. They play quite a direct game, get the ball up to the front two who are very lively and we struggled to handle them to begin with.

"As the game wore on we came more into it. We had a great chance when Charlie Daniels skipped through, drew the keeper, dinked the ball over him and it just went the wrong side of the post. We then began to get the ball down and play a bit.

"Into the second half and it was still 0-0, we started well and I thought we were in control of the game.

"In fact, I was just about to make a substitute to give us a little more oomph up front when they played a hopeful ball into the box, poor defending, their player got across one of our men at the near post and suddenly we're 1-0 down.

"We went up the other end and Charlie Lee (pictured right) hit a great strike from 25 yards that hit the inside of the post, ran across the line and came out.

"We then had a free-kick where Jack Maghoma had the keeper to beat but chose to square and it was another great opportunity gone.

"Of course, they then went straight up the other end, more poor defending, we missed a header on the edge of the box that left them through on the keeper. That was 2-0 and Watford scored again right at the end.

"I felt a bit sorry for the lads because we put a lot into that game, looked like we would get something it of it but in the end it looks like we've been bashed. That wasn't the case and it could have been a different story."
