FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE
Spurs Under-18s 2-1 Aston Villa
Andy Barcham maintained his electric run of form in front of goal as our Academy side notched up a notable win against Villa.
Barcham (pictured left) bagged a goal in each half to secure a deserved third win on the trot for the lads against one of the league's top sides but coach Pat Holland was quick to praise the performance of goalkeeper TommyForecast (pictured below) as he kept Villa at bay in the first half.
Pat takes up the story: "Let's just say in the first half if the team was a cat, we'd have lost about seven of our nine lives. It was quite a strong wind again and Villa had by far the better of the first half but couldn't put the ball in the net.
"After 35 minutes we had a decent move and a fine individual goal from Andy Barcham, left-footed and completely against the run of play.
"That lifted us and we went into the second half with the wind in our favour and played some really good stuff. Having said that, Villa scored soon after the break and that set the lads back a little but we showed some good movement and deserved to go in front.
"It was Andy Barcham again, good work by Jack Maghoma and the ball fell to Andy from Jack's shot and he spun and hit it into the corner.
"I think Andy's got eight goals in his last seven games so he's on a good run of form at the moment but there were some good performances out there, particularly Tommy Forecast in goal. I was delighted with him.
"It was a strong Villa side and I think that group of lads won the Under-17 team last season. We're still relatively young so I'm delighted with them."
