Bristol City Under-18s 2-2 Spurs
Charlie Daniels grabbed a deserved late equaliser as our Under-18s returned to action in testing conditions at Bristol.
Battling against a strong wind in the first half, the lads started well and took an early lead through debutant Radwan Hamed, up from Jimmy Neighbour's Under-16 group, who pounced on a loose ball after three minutes.
But we conceded two poor goals before the interval and despite enjoying more possession in the second half, it took Daniels' (pictured left) late strike after a scramble to secure a point and stretch the lads recent record to one defeat in eight league games.
"It was tough against the elements," reflected coach Pat Holland. "We played against a strong wind in the first half and took the lead after three minutes, the ball was played into the area and Radwan Hamed scored on his debut, a well-taken goal inside the six-yard box.
"We had a good spell for about 15, 20 minutes and created a couple of decent chances.
"But we then decided to commit suicide.
"We made two defensive mistakes in about five minutes, conceded two goals, were 2-1 down at half-time and to be honest, lucky to only be 2-1 down.
"The elements were then in our favour and we saw more of the ball and put more pressure on them.
"I changed it on the hour and put two more schoolboys on in Joe Martin and Jamie Davis and we continued to put the pressure on without looking as if we were getting anywhere.
"We then put the ball into their box, it was a bit of a scramble and Charlie Daniels stuck it away.
"Overall we deserved a draw, it could have been better but the conditions were difficult for both sides."
