Spurs U18s 3-3 Bristol City
A frustrating afternoon for Pat Holland as our Under-18s let 2-0 and 3-2 leads slip against Bristol City.
Charlie Lee's header was taken into his own net by a defender and Kieran McKenna tapped home from Scott Thyer's good work for a 2-0 advantage at half-time.
City hit back with two quick goals in the second half, Andy Barcham restored the lead again inside the last 10 minutes only for the visitors to grab a share of the spoils four minutes from time.
Coach Pat reflected: "It was as frustrating a game as we've had all year.
"We lost Charlie Lee (pictured left) to a head injury for about 15 minutes in the first half and they never really disturbed us and I thought if we got ourselves about it we would get something out of the game.
"After about 30 minutes Charlie got a free header from a corner and glanced it onto their defender. It has to go down as an own goal because it was missing the target.
"About five minutes later we played a ball over the top, Scotty Thyer (pictured below) latched onto it, chipped it over the keeper and squared it for Kieran McKenna to score. Scott did well there, unselfish play. It was 2-0 at half-time and it looked a case of getting on with it and getting the third.
"We started off well in the second half, everything looked okay but Bristol got a free-kick wide left, no real danger but we didn't deal with it and it was 2-1.
"Within five minutes they got a penalty. The lads said it wasn't but I wasn't really in position to see it and that was 2-2.
"I then thought 'he we go'. I made two changes, brought on Joe Martin and Simon Dawkins and Dawkins looked quite bright. I then brought Richard Heller on, that gave us a bit more width and with about 10 minutes left he got around the outside, played the ball in, Jack Maghoma's shot bounced nicely and Andy Barcham tucked it away for 3-2.
"But we shot ourselves in the foot with four minutes left, lost the ball in our possession and they broke and scored. In the end it was 3-3 and it was hard to say that Bristol didn't deserve something out of it."
