Two's company

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Jonathan Blondel believes that his form and confidence has been improved by a recent arrival in the country.

The 18-year-old Belgian admits that the settling-in process was not easy following his joining from Excelsior Mouscron in the summer and that he found adapting to life on his own in a foreign country a daunting prospect.

The spring is now back in the Blondel step and the Ypres-born player has been a star turn in recent reserve outings - particularly in the 2-0 away victory over Wimbledon.

"At the moment I feel better," he pondered, adding that his confidence is growing as a result. "I played a good game against Wimbledon and had a good week's training. The manager bought me into the squad for the Everton game and I was pleased with that.

"I am confident at this moment. I think it maybe because it is better for me off the pitch now. My girlfriend has now been here with me for two months and it is much better.

"I am much happier now because of this."

Jonathan reflected that he was unsettled earlier in the season, mostly due to the fact that he was missing his family and friends.

"It was probably because I missed my parents and friends and they were missing me, but now I have my girlfriend here things are much better.

"I am not alone all the time at home. It is very difficult, not many players go to another country on their own at 18 or 19 years old to play football.

"It was difficult, but now it is fine and I want to move on from that time."

Since the arrival of girlfriend Priscilla, adventuring into town has become all the more appealing for the young midfielder who was previously inclined to simply head back to his apartment after training.

"We go into central London two or three times a week - before I never went. I was on my own and tended to stay at home. Now my girlfriend is here we go shopping, cinema, bowling..."

On the footballing front, Jonathan hopes to force his way into the first team reckoning over the forthcoming months - his primary aim being a spot of bench warming.

"I hope maybe to get a regular place on the substitutes bench - that would make me happy. To play one or two games or come off the bench would be great.

"I will play good for the reserve team and work hard in training."
