US television star and Spurs fan Adam Richman has been preparing for Soccer Aid at our Training Centre this week.
The presenter famed for shows ‘Man v. Food’, ‘Man v. Food Nation’ and more recently, ‘Fandemonium’ will line-up as a striker alongside international greats Andrei Shevchenko and Alessandro Del Piero in the Rest of the World squad taking on England in the match to raise funds for UNICEF at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Edgar Davids is also in the Rest of the World squad, managed by Jose Mourinho, while another ex-Spur, Jamie Redknapp, is with England, who are managed by Sam Allardyce.
Soccer Aid is the brainchild of singer Robbie Williams and was first staged in 2006.
“First of all, thanks to Spurs for making this possible, it’s an honour to represent the club and Spurs fans at Soccer Aid,” said Adam, who enjoyed his first match at the Lane in March, a 1-0 win against Cardiff.
“I’ve Del Piero and Shevchenko as other members of our striking squad so I’ve a lot to live up to!
“I’ll do my best impression of our great strikers like Sheringham, Defoe or Adebayor and whatever I can do to help spread the word of the beautiful game to the US, I’m all for.
“To Dare Is To Do is the way I think about it. Every time I step out at Old Trafford, I’ll think ‘the game is about glory’.”
