Travel advice - Lyon
Advice for our fans travelling to Lyon for our Europa League Round of 32, second leg against Olympique Lyonnais.
The City of Lyon is a mix of old and new with something for everyone including the numerous bars and restaurants dotted about the City Centre and plenty of shopping Avenues.
No visit to Lyon would be complete without a walk around the original medieval city, which is located on the west bank of the Saone River. The buildings primarily date from the Renaissance period and the quarter is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
For those fans travelling officially, the coaches will drop you off at Place Bellecour and this is where you will pick up your coaches at the given time to take the short journey to Stade de Gerland. At the Stadium, the coaches will park close to the entry points for visiting fans and will remain in this area for the duration of the game.
For those travelling independently, the Metro will take you from the City Centre on the Blue Line to the Stade de Gerland stop, a journey of approximately 15 minutes.
When arriving at this stop, you should proceed directly ahead, where you will see the Stadium and make your way to the corner of Rue Jean Bouin and Allee Pierre de Coubertin.
Those fans holding tickets for Block A should enter at the end of Rue Jean Bouin, all others should proceed around the corner to their section.
Gates will open 90 minutes before kick off.
Please note that there is a Bar called Ninkasi to the right of the Metro stop and a McDonalds Restaurant, which are frequented by home fans and should be avoided.
Disabled fans can park near the coaches and enter the Stadium at Block A.
At the entrance to Blocks F, E2, (Lower Tier) and K2, (Upper Tier) there is a small gatehouse and you may leave all large bags here as these will not be allowed into the Stadium.
Whilst the Gatehouse will be manned, Lyon will not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage to items.
Once through the respective gates, your tickets will be checked and you should proceed to the turnstile/ticket control point, where you will undergo a body search, which will be carried out by the local Police.
A number of Spurs Stewards will be available in these areas to assist with any queries.
Please be aware that the usual items are prohibited from Lyon’s Stadium and we would ask that you abide by these regulations.
There are a small number of catering units available on the outer concourse level and as with all UEFA matches, no alcohol will be available for sale. Toilet facilities are available in this area for both levels.
The views are unrestricted and Lyon have agreed that fans may display banners and flags, with appropriate wording, at the front the Stand and alongside the segregation fencing. All flags and banners will be checked prior to entry by Police/Stewards. As always, it is common policy and normal ground rules at football stadia in the UK and Europe that flags of an overtly religious/sectarian/political nature will not be permitted and may be confiscated - please respect this request.
Furthermore, please be aware that drunken or rowdy behaviour will not be tolerated by the local Police and we would ask that you respect this in the City Centre and at the Stadium. Please note, it is an offence to drink alcohol in public places away from restaurants/bars, and on public transport.
As per normal European fixtures, Spurs fans can expect to be held back for up to 30 minutes after the final whistle and once the outside area is clear, you will be able to leave. Please behave appropriately during this time as it may assist in an earlier exit.
Please remember that you are Ambassadors for the Club and respect local amenities and culture and do not place flags or banners on statues or historic monuments.
As always, be aware of pickpockets in crowded areas, particularly on transport networks and where possible, carry a copy of your current Passport and do ensure that you have the correct Travel Insurance before travelling.
