Training match all-square at the Lodge
With 10 senior players away on international duty, Andre Villas-Boas took the opportunity to look at the squad in a training match at Spurs Lodge on Tuesday.
The two mixed teams played three 25-minute periods and it finished goalless at the training ground with both Brad Friedel and Carlo Cudicini in fine form.
Cudicini made the first save of the game to deny Aaron Lennon, who was sent clear by Yago Falque's defence-splitting pass in the 16th minute.
Falque dragged a shot wide from the edge of the box and Cudicini was there again to deny Andros Townsend from 20 yards.
At the other end, Jonathan Obika burst through centrally on the half-hour and dragged his shot wide but did better from a tight angle in the 43rd minute, this time a snapshot that Freidel had to be on his toes to parry away.
Obika went closer still in the 49th minute, latching onto Ryan Mason's pass and this time placing the ball past Friedel, only to see it come back off the left upright.
Into the third and final period and it was Cudicini's turn for action and this time arguably the save of the match, a reaction tip over from Kane's close-range effort.
Alex Pritchard tested Friedel with a dipping volley from 18 yards before Kane had the final two chances of note, both shots from in and around the edge of the box deflected just wide.
