Training going well!
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Hughton is happy with the way training is going as the squad prepare for our Peace Cup opener against Boca Juniors tonight in Suwon.
To allow the players to become acclimatized and shake off jet-leg, the opening sessions of the trip were staged in the magnificent gym and swimming pool here at our base in Seoul. Since then it has been out to the Seong Nam Stadium where the playing surface is ideal for high-quality training.
"I think probably the biggest thing to get used to is the time difference and the players were pretty tired at first," reflected Chris. "It is normal when you are travelling so far and it takes two or three days to adjust.
"We've managed to get in some decent training sessions, the initial ones were in the fantastic gym and pool at the hotel. Now they are very much out on the pitches where we can do our football work.
"We were told before we came here that the facilities would be good. We are in a fabulous hotel, the service has been excellent and the training pitch is of a high standard. We believe this is the case with all the pitches."
Our first opponents Boca Juniors did not arrive in South Korea until Friday and Chris does not totally dismiss the theory that this could be an advantage to us. The flip side of the coin is that Boca's season has not long concluded and he concedes they will have the edge in terms of match sharpness.
"We've seen all of that before, even going back to circumstances long ago at home when you arrived late and it is all a bit chaotic, then you have a wonderful start to the game.
"I think it could be an advantage to us and we would always prefer to prepare the way we have. Once they get on the park though they will be Boca Juniors and a very good side.
"They will come into the game at a higher fitness level than us, I think that goes without saying. We certainly hope the Journey takes a little bit out of them, but it will be a tough game."
