Andros Townsend says we have the character to pick ourselves up from Saturday’s FA Cup loss against Leicester City as we aim for Wembley on Wednesday.
Two goals in the final seven minutes consigned us to only our second defeat in 15 cup games so far this term but there is no time to dwell as the players prepare for our Capital One Cup semi-final, second leg against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
We take a 1-0 lead from the first leg - courtesy of Andros’ penalty - to Yorkshire with the winners of the tie set to face either Chelsea or Liverpool in the final on Sunday, March 1.
“We have to remain positive, the games come thick and fast," said Andros.
"We now play a Capital One Cup semi-final with Wembley the target, so we’ve still a lot to look forward to and hopefully we’ll bring the positivity back on Wednesday.
“Wednesday is a massive game and hopefully we can put the smiles back on the faces of everyone associated with the club.
“That is what everyone is focused on doing and putting the FA Cup defeat behind us.
“The character is there, everyone has seen the amount of times we’ve come back in games this season from goals down in the last minute.
“On Saturday it happened against us, football is like that, but we have the characters to pick ourselves up and go again on Wednesday and try to get to Wembley.”
