Tour 2017 - Ledley and Danny thrill fans in Orlando
21 July 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs fans in Orlando were in for a treat on Thursday evening.
Not only was legendary former skipper and Club Ambassador Ledley King at the Supporters' Club event hosted by Orlando Spurs, but 1984 UEFA Cup winner Danny Thomas, now based in the city, was also present at McGinnty's Bar.
The hosts were joined by fans from Tampa, Tallahassee, Jacksonville and Miami, cities outside Florida and plenty from the UK as well!
Proceedings started with a message from another legend - this time all-time great and record appearance maker Steve Perryman, honorary president of the Orlando club, wishing members all the best for the evening.
A host of topics were covered as Ledley and Danny answered fans' questions for over an hour, ranging from favourite manager played under to most difficult opponent, funniest moment in the dressing room and biggest characters to best moment in a Spurs shirt and of course, Danny memories of that incredible 1984 triumph at the Lane, when he missed a penalty to win the shoot-out only for Tony Parks to clinch the trophy by saving Anderlecht's fifth.
"I was lucky enough to play in and win a cup final on home soil at the Lane," said Danny, who played 115 times for us between 1983-87. "That night was electric. Okay, I had my penalty saved - I didn't miss it - but thankfully we still had the night we all wanted."
Asked about the current central defensive pairing of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, Ledley, one of the best centre-halves of the modern era, said: "They've built up a great rapport and I really don't see any weaknesses. They make the game look easy."

Finally, asked about the continued development of the new stadium and the future, Ledley stated: "I'm so proud to be part of this Club and now seeing these plans come to fruition. The Club is going from strength to strength. It was always my dream when I played to challenge for the title and that's the position we're in now. It's special to still be part of it all as an Ambassador and it's great to be able to come out to places like Orlando and meet the fans, so thanks for that."
Danny added: "Everywhere I go I always see a huge Spurs fan base, and here is no different. Everyone has made me so welcome and that has been special for me. These are exciting times on and off the pitch with so much more to come. I would say to everyone 'hold onto your hats' because it's going to be some ride!"
After the Q&A session, Ledley and Danny signed autographs and posed for photographs.
