Tour 2015 - Michel relishing return to Sydney
29 May 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Michel Vorm hopes this weekend’s match against Sydney FC yields more goals than his previous visit to the city – at the right end, of course!
The 31-year-old goalkeeper was part of the Netherlands squad that took on Australia in an international friendly at Sydney Football Stadium back in October, 2009.
Although he was on the bench for the goalless draw, Maarten Stekelenburg between the sticks on that occasion, the Dutchman enjoyed the chance to sample the atmosphere around an Australian matchday.
And having spent time reacquainting himself with Sydney over the last couple of days on the second leg of our post-season tour, the former Swansea stopper says he’s looking forward to what’s sure to be a fantastic occasion when we run out at the nearby ANZ Stadium on Saturday.
“When I came to Australia with the national team a few years back, it was obvious to me that it’s a country that lives for sport,” he said.
“For our game on Saturday, I’ve heard that the stadium is going to be packed out with tens of thousands of people so it’s quite special for us.
“It’s not the same stadium that we played in before with the national team, although I think we stayed in the same hotel, but it’s exciting because it’s not that often that Premier League teams come to Australia and I know the local people are really looking forward to seeing us play.
“Not only that, it’s good to be together with the boys on the final run until everybody goes on holiday or on to their internationals and we want to end the season well for all the fans we have all over the world.”
Saturday's game kicks-off at 8pm local time (11am UK time). Sign up for a free 2015 Spurs TV Tour Pass to watch it live on this website!
