Tour 2015 - Maxy's cricket claim to fame

Former defender Paul Miller can proudly say he’s turned out at some of Australia’s most iconic cricket venues – but without a crease in sight!
Our tour Down Under in 1985 saw us play matches against Italian side Udinese, Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama and the Australian national team.
Some of those games took place at the famous Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
And as he keeps tabs on our current tour in Sydney, the two-time FA Cup winner and 1984 UEFA Cup winner has been reminiscing about the chance he got to grace those venues in Australia some three decades ago.
“The nice thing for me, being a cricket fan, is that we played at the SCG and the MCG,” the 55-year-old recalled. “A couple of the football matches were actually played on the cricket grounds and we had big crowds of 50,000 or 60,000 people there.
“It was great to turn out there and it’s nice when I watch cricket to be able to say I’ve actually played at the SCG and the MCG.
“We also played at the Trinidad Oval in 1983 against the Trinidad & Tobago national side, so I’ve played on quite a lot of cricket pitches without actually playing cricket. I don’t think they’d have football at Lords somehow!”
