The squad arrived in Seattle at 5.30pm local time on Wednesday – just after 1am on Thursday back in the UK – and our summer Tour is officially underway!
Mauricio Pochettino has already told us about the importance of our time in the USA and Canada as we prepare for the big kick-off in the Premier League at West Ham on August 16.
We take on three MLS teams in the space of a week starting with high-flying Seattle Sounders - currently top of the Western Conference - this Saturday, July 19, kick-off 1pm local time (9pm UK) before Toronto FC in Canada on Wednesday week, July 23 (7pm local time, midnight UK) and finally Chicago Fire on Saturday, July 26 (7pm local, 1am UK). The players are looking ahead to continuing the hard work of pre-season and the experience of visiting Seattle, Toronto and Chicago.
Christian Eriksen said: “I’ve never been to America before, so I’ve a lot to see and I’m looking forward to it. I’ve always wanted to go there, maybe on a holiday, but now I’m going with the team and I’ll see what it’s all about.”
Striker Harry Kane, who impressed on our last tour of the States in 2012, added: “I’ve not been to either of these cities, so it’s a chance to see new cities and we’re playing new teams as well. They will be fit and ready for us, so it will be a great test and good fitness work for us. That’s what it’s about.”
