Tottenham Hotspur proudly supporting BBC Children In Need

The Club will kick-off Radio 5 Live’s inaugural football fundraiser for BBC Children in Need at Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Radio 5 Live will be broadcasting live from White Hart Lane as the Club gives its high profile backing to the national charity campaign.

BBC Children in Need supports over 2,600 projects across the UK, all of which work to help change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people, including many projects that help children through sport and football. The ‘beautiful game’ can provide kids with fun, friendship, fitness and a sense of belonging to a team.

Ahead of one of the biggest matches of the season, we will be using our online and social media channels to help raise awareness of the fantastic work undertaken by the charity every year. There are also a host of activities planned for the day of the game, that are designed to generate support for Children in Need and provide fans with the opportunity to donate to the charity should they wish.

Pudsey Bear is also set to make his debut at the Lane alongside the Club’s own mascot, Chirpy.

The pair will appear in the Spurs Megastore from 10am-11am ahead of the 12.45pm kick off, and also take a walk around the pitch before the game and during the half-time interval to meet fans and pose for photographs.

David Ramsden, Chief Executive of BBC Children in Need, said: “We’re really excited to be teaming up with 5 Live and football clubs around the country for our first ever football fundraising campaign.

“We really value the support that Tottenham Hotspur is giving us which will help us to change lots of young lives across the UK.”

Daniel Levy, Chairman, Tottenham Hotspur said: “We are delighted to be able to show our support for such a worthy cause.

“BBC Children in Need is etched into the calendar of British society and we are proud to be able to play a part in helping raise awareness of the excellent work it does across the country.”

If you cannot make it to Saturday’s game, you can donate £5 to BBC Children in Need by texting the word FOOTBALL to 70705. It’s that simple!

Text messages will cost £5 plus your standard network charge and every penny of your £5 will go to BBC Children in Need, registered charity number 802052 (England and Wales) SC039557 (Scotland).
