Tottenham Hotspur Foundation shortlisted for Sport Industry Award
We are delighted to announce that a Tottenham Hotspur Foundation initiative has been shortlisted for a prestigious Sport Industry Award.
The Education and Football Development Centre scheme has been nominated in the Community Programme category, with more than 160 campaigns, brands, teams and events being shortlisted across 12 categories for the 2012 Awards.
After a rigorous nomination process involving more than 40 key figures from across sport and 50 hours of intensive judging, the list of nominees represents the best the industry had to offer in the past year.
The Development Centres are run in partnership with Barnet & Southgate, St Thomas More and Waltham Forest Colleges and give young people classified as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) the opportunity to re-engage with Further Education via the hook of playing representative football for their college and receiving Academy-standard coaching from Tottenham Hotspur.
• 100% of St Thomas More Catholic School students and 92% of Barnet & Southgate College students passed their academic studies in 2010/11.
• 30 girls have joined the Barnet and Southgate College programme since 2010.
• Six students have become Tottenham Hotspur Foundation staff or volunteers
• Two students from 2010/11 have been awarded scholarships at Football League clubs with up to eight more playing at Essex Senior level.
• Over 25 students at all three colleges recently passed their FA Level One Football qualification.

Over the past 11 years we have seen some truly incredible campaigns honoured at the Sport Industry Awards, and when the industry comes together on 2nd May we will once again be celebrating a fantastic year for the UK sports business."
The shortlists will now go forward for consideration by the main Judging Panel, who will decide the winners in each category.
The results will be announced at the star-studded Sport Industry Awards ceremony on Wednesday 2nd May 2012.
