Toronto FC vs Spurs - Mauricio's preview
23 July 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino expects another tough test as we continue our summer Tour with a friendly against Toronto FC tonight.
The Canadian side include the talents of a certain Jermain Defoe, star US midfielder Michael Bradley, former Premier League players Luke Moore and Steven Caldwell in their ranks and are well-placed to make it into the MLS play-offs for the first time.
They are managed by ex-Spurs, Blackburn and New Zealand international defender Ryan Nelsen.
We’ve enjoyed testing friendlies against the likes of LA Galaxy, San Jose and New York Red Bulls in recent seasons and kicked-off this summer’s Tour with a 3-3 cracker against high-flying Seattle Sounders on Saturday.
“Toronto is a very good team like Seattle with some unbelievable players like Jermain Defoe and we expect another tough game,” said Maurico.
“We want to improve, we want to learn, we want to put our philosophy and style into practice and our objective is to develop this style, so these games are very important for us.”
The players trained in front of another healthy crowd in the late afternoon sunshine at Toronto’s BMO Field on Tuesday.
“The players are working hard, they are all good professionals and they always give their best,” added Mauricio.
After the session, the players met the fans and signed autographs.
