Tony's target

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Anthony Gardner can appreciate Middlesbrough's tight defensive ship - but believes we have the weapons to breach it in the Carling Cup tonight.

As a fellow defender, Anthony knows all about the hard work behind Boro's fantastic defensive record of seven clean sheets on the trot and eight in their last nine games.

But he's confident we can end that run tonight. "They've been doing very well as a team defensively - it's a team thing," said Anthony. "They've kept a number of clean sheets but they haven't scored that many either and things change in football.

"You have to go into it as a normal game and believe this might be the time when they concede goals.

"Every game is difficult and that run can't go on for ever. We know it will be tough to break them down - but we have the front two to cause them problems."

Boro's defensive line has remained just about settled throughout their run with goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, Franck Quadrue, Gareth Southgate and Danny Mills joined by Colin Cooper and, in Cooper's absence, Chris Riggott.

"I know Chris quite well from his days at Derby and playing in youth team games against him," added Anthony. "He's a good player who has been waiting for the chance of a run in the team, Ehiogu has been injured, he's taken his chance and he's formed a good partnership with Gareth Southgate."
