Tony's smiling again
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
The smile is back on Anthony Gardner’s face.
Our tall, skilful defender’s season ended in agony when he landed awkwardly after an aerial challenge in the final game against Manchester United.
Scans soon revealed knee ligament damage and as the rest of his team-mates jetted off on holiday, he was left in a knee brace at Spurs Lodge.
But the 20-year-old’s recovery has gone well so far and the squad’s return to Spurs Lodge this week should coincide with him removing the brace and stepping up his rehabilitation.
“I was obviously down at the end of last season and that was down as much as anything to the fact that I didn’t think I would be able to get away,” he revealed. “But I managed to get a holiday and things have gone well.
“I went for a re-scan the other day and the specialist said that the ligament is repairing. I’ve still got some bone bruising but that should clear up in time.
“There is no other damage so I can start going in the pool soon.
“I just have to keep the brace on for a few more days. I still have to take it slow and it will still be another six weeks.
“I’ll be looking to step up myself soon and hopefully I won’t miss too much of the season.”
