Tony hopes for injury break

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Anthony Gardner is hoping for a clean bill of health after his latest comeback for the reserves on Monday night.

The stylish defender completed 90 minutes in our 2-0 win against Wimbledon at Kingstonian after battling back from a knee problem.

Injuries have been an unwanted theme throughout his career at Spurs and this season has been no different.

Having made such a bright start he damaged his thigh just after scoring his first goal for the club and the winner against West Ham back in September.

That kept him out for a couple of months and he managed just one game back - the Worthington Cup loss at Burnley - before a knee injury struck him down again.

Now he's back - and he wants to stay there. "I'm fine now," he said. "It's been frustrating. I had an injury and then a little knock on top of that. I was hoping to be back before the start of the New Year but wasn't quite ready for it.

"Without there being any reserve games until now I haven't had the chance to get fitness for first team games. This was my first opportunity.

"What has made it so frustrating is that I started playing and when you start playing you want to continue and play 20 games or so.

"The injuries have hampered my progress but hopefully I've got them out of my system now and I can continue playing with no more problems.

"I've trained for the last two weeks, not had any problems, no reactions, so it was decided to have a run out in the reserve game and hopefully I can work my way back in."
