Tom Carroll enjoyed his breakthrough season last term – but he’s keeping his feet firmly on the ground.
The stylish midfielder made 14 appearances for the first team in all competitions, including his debut in the Premier League, his fleet-footed, accurate passing game impressing in the busy central areas.
Only just turned 21, the Academy graduate is looking to build on performances that not only caught the eye at Spurs, but earned his first caps at England Under-21 level.
Indeed, Tom was in the provisional squad for the European U21 Championships but didn’t make the final cut for Israel.
“Last season was a positive one for me,” he said on his return to pre-season training this week. “I’m delighted to have made my Premier League debut and made quite a few appearances.
“It was nice that the gaffer trusted me to come on in some big games and I hope I did myself justice.
“Hopefully I’ll push on again and make more appearances for Spurs. That’s what I want to do.
“I’m not a cemented squad member yet, I know that, so I’ll take nothing for granted and continue to work hard.”
