Tom and Eric anticipate fantastic atmosphere

Tom Carroll and Eric Dier can’t wait to sample the famous North London derby atmosphere on Wednesday night and have highlighted the role our fans can play as we look to make progress in the Capital One Cup.
We meet rivals Arsenal in the third round of the competition with a packed house expected at White Hart Lane for the 7.45pm kick-off.
Central midfielder Tom, who played 90 minutes against Qarabag in the Europa League last week before going on as a late substitute in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, is under no illusions about the importance of a good result against the Gunners and believes the noise levels created by our supporters can only work in our favour as we seek to make it four wins on the spin.
“It’s a huge game and I’m sure everyone associated with the club is looking forward to it,” he said.
“A great atmosphere is guaranteed when you’re playing in a North London derby and with the fans right behind us the players will relish the challenge.
“Form counts for nothing in a game like this, but our aims are to progress in all the competitions so it should be a great match.”
For Eric, who has been ever-present for us in a defensive midfield role so far this term, the opportunity to take on the Gunners under the lights at the Lane is one he’s very excited about.
“Arsenal are a very good side but it’s the derby and everything goes out of the window – it’s a one-off game,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter what’s happened in the past and we’re going to have to be ready.
"It’s a night game, though, which will really add to the atmosphere.
“Our fans were fantastic against Palace on Sunday and also last week in the Europa League, so we know we can look forward to having them right behind us again and hopefully we can get a good result.”
