Three-goal spell 'amazing' - Gareth

Gareth Bale said it was ‘amazing’ to be part of our seven goal-den minutes against Manchester City on Sunday.

Trailing 1-0 to Samir Nasri's early strike, the arrival of substitutes Tom Huddlestone, Lewis Holtby and Jermain Defoe helped turn momentum in our favour before a stunning spell of three goals in seven minutes turned the game on its head.

Gareth crossed for Clint Dempsey to level on 75 minutes, Jermain curled home for 2-1 on 79 and Gareth tucked away goal number 23 for the season to secure victory in the 82nd minute.

The flying Welshman – now on 18 goals in the Premier League – was quick to praise our fans’ support on an afternoon to remember against the reigning champions.

“We knew it was a massive game and going 1-0 down was a bit disappointing, but the lads showed the character to turn it around,” said Gareth.

“That spell was amazing. As soon as we scored the equaliser everyone had the confidence and belief. The fans raised the roof and that gave us even more belief to go forward and we were able to score two more after that.

“All three goals were important. The first gave us the belief, the second killed them off a little and the third sealed it. It was a great comeback.”
