'The team is alive, the team is fighting' - Mauricio

Mauricio Pochettino sees opportunity knocking at Watford.

The manager admits it’s been a tough spell in the Premier League but stated ‘the team is alive’ and determined to ‘start again’ at Vicarage Road.

The team went on run of eight wins in 11 matches this time last season. “It’s a good opportunity to bounce back, to start again and to create good momentum,” said Mauricio.

“It’s true the last few weeks after the international break - apart from Dortmund in the Champions League - have been tough for us. That happens in football. It’s important to be calm, to assess everything and try to work hard on what we need to improve to win again.

“The team is alive, the team is fighting. Leicester was a good example, and West Brom - we were there, fighting and trying to score and to win.

“We need to be more clinical and to reduce our mistakes - Leicester arrived three times and scored twice, West Brom arrived twice and scored once.

“We’re in a period at the moment where everything is against us and we need to change that dynamic and start to build momentum again. We have to be calm, to be right in our analysis and take decisions without emotion.

“The team feel that we need to win and they cannot wait to compete again and play on Saturday. That is the feeling we have.”
