The story of Walter Tull brought to life in Tottenham

Fri 28 February 2014, 12:55|Tottenham Hotspur

The cast of 'Walter', a stage production about the life of Walter Tull, visited the Lane this week to celebrate the launch of a workshop being taken to schools around the country in the centenary year of World War One.

‘Walter’ is this week being performed at St Paul’s and All Hallows Primary School in Tottenham, educating students on the life of this country’s first black Army Officer and outfield professional footballer to play in England’s top division.

Tull made 10 appearances for the Club between 1909 and 1911, going on to make over 100 appearances for Northampton Town before being killed in action during the Great War.

The play’s lead actor, Paul McKenzie, was joined by fellow cast members, students from St Paul’s and All Hallows and the Club’s Head of Publications, John Fennelly, at the Lane on Wednesday.
