The Pleat verdict

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

David Pleat was delighted with the performance of the team against Crystal Palace, but reserved a special mention for the displays of Stephane Dalmat and Gary Doherty.

The acting boss knew that the game was viewed as a potential FA Cup upset and feels that the incisive forward play of the first period proved the difference on the day.

"Palace have been playing well and we got three very good reports on them," commented David afterwards. "The pace of Routledge and Johnson has been disturbing teams and they had good results - so, of course, it was a potential banana skin.

"We got through it with some very good attacking play. I think our three most forward players in the first half were excellent, strong and skilful. We need to take confidence from that play.

"Dalmat gave an exhibition that would have pleased many people and he showed some tremendous skills. I am delighted that Simon Davies is back as well.

"Doherty did well and has played well whenever he has come in this season. He will make a good centre-back and is finding his feet at the back after the doubts over what is his best position."
