The Pleat Verdict

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Back at the training ground, David Pleat gives his reflections on the Easter weekend programme.

IT WAS A trying Easter weekend and it is very easy to be despondent if you let it get to you. It is a youngish team and we have had one or two things to battle with this season.

Our recent run has set us back and knocked us a little bit, but there is no despair and the boys will get back into it.

We started so well against Manchester City and Poyet was looking dangerous with his headers. We got caught on the counter attack which can happen when you push people forward, they had a bit of pace and, to be fair, McManaman was picking the ball up too easily. Kelly got hold of that when he came on and did well in the second half.

We lost both full-backs during the game, we hit the post, David James played a good game throughout and, in the end, we thoroughly deserved a draw - and could have had a penalty to win the game. The players deserved some credit and should get it.

I not one for rose-tinted glasses, I know we have good players at Tottenham Hotspur and I also know where we have difficulties. We've got to face up to it, we've had some disappointing results in the last month after raising hopes.

I would like to compliment some of the players from Monday. Jamie Redknapp came through 90 minutes again, Gus Poyet gave us a very lively 70 minutes and he is a very good lad and good for the team and I was very pleased with Simon Davies' return.

We've got Bolton next and they've scored a couple of last-minute goals recently - that's how topsy-turvy it is. Wolves have suffered the reverse of that and it is down to concentration.

Bolton are a strong team, a mixed team of many international players from different countries and they have played very strongly for Sam this season. At the moment they are three points in front of us.
