The Lion's Dane!

Christian Eriksen congratulated Ryan Mason on his first international cap – and then heaped praise on his midfield colleague for his efforts in a Spurs shirt.

Ryan made his senior England debut when he went on as a second half substitute for Roy Hodgson’s men in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Italy.

And he was soon in the thick of the action, setting up Andros Townsend to fire in the Three Lions’ equaliser in Turin.

Christian, who has also had reason to celebrate on the international stage after collecting his 50th cap for Denmark last week, was thrilled to see his Spurs comrade make an impact for his country – something he believes he’s also done for us over the course of the campaign.

“It’s special for Ryan. You always remember your debut and he’ll do just that – I still remember mine in Austria,” Christian said.

“It’s always special to play for your country and to make your debut is really something else.

“In terms of being here at Spurs, Ryan has made it easier for our attacking players over the course of the season. It’s always good when you know you have a guy behind you who will pass forward and who will tackle and win the ball for us.

“He rarely loses the ball and he knows how to pass it, so he’s a pleasure to play alongside.”
