The Jol Verdict

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Back at Spurs Lodge for the start of another busy week, Martin Jol gives us a more reflective view of Saturday's win against Fulham in the Barclays Premiership.

We dominated proceedings at the Lane but it took a moment of magic from substitute Fredi Kanoute to break stubborn Fulham's resistance as he curled home a free-kick from 25 yards.

Robbie Keane, also off the bench, wrapped up the 2-0 victory with the second goal in injury time.

Here are Head Coach Martin's thoughts...

"EVERYONE knows we have great players and when they are motivated, as they were, they can come on and do the business. I was the happiest men for them on Saturday night.

"Fredi Kanoute doesn't normally take free-kicks but it paid off. Jermain Defoe is normally on the free-kicks, but he was off so Fredi thought 'Jermain is off, I can take a gamble' and that is football! I was very pleased. You can't organise everything before the game - you want to, but it's impossible. A bit of imagination is fine by me.

"I joked with him on Monday morning that normally he would get a fine! I was only joking with him though! The other thing is though when you have two or three free-kick specialists and then four of five are having a gamble, it can be a bit of a mess. But I was a happy man on Saturday.

"Looking at the table, we still have a game in hand on a couple of teams. We have a very big match at Southampton on Saturday but Forest come first in the FA Cup and that is one of the biggest games of the season. I'm confident though because I know we want to achieve things and go places."
