Martin Jol offers his post-match reaction to the 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad in Ulsan that sees us through to the Peace Cup final on Sunday.
WE NOW HEAD back to Seoul for the final of the Peace Cup on Sunday, but I have mixed feelings about the result. We want to win and I want to get that into the heads of the players all the time.
We will be out here for a further three days and I think it is a terrific experience for us. This is a very prestigious tournament and if you are in the final it means you are a good team.
We could have scored six goals but, on the other hand, they gave us a lot of problems. With ten men they played with one striker and he was playing inbetween all the time. Our players are used to playing in a zone and picking up a striker and our lads had a few problems with their movement.
They had two or three chances and I think in the whole game we had nine. I think we deserved to win, but it was a draw and we have to learn that when you play 11 against 10 you must use the whole width of the pitch. We didn't do that all time but we had a tough session yesterday and the players were getting a bit tired towards the end of the game.
That is all part of our preparations, you need a fit team for the Premiership as now and again you have to play two games in three days. I think this is a very good preparation for us.
We have done well in this tournament against teams from different continents. We have good strikers who always seem to score and that is a big advantage for us. Having seen all the lads now in the two weeks since we started, I think we are getting there.
