The Jol Verdict

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Back at Spurs Lodge, Head Coach Martin Jol takes a reflective look at Sunday's FA Cup draw against Forest.

Summing up the fifth round tie at the Lane, Jermain Defoe put us ahead just before the break, Gareth Taylor levelled after 55 minutes, both sides had chances and Paul Robinson produced the save of the match to deny Kris Commons two minutes from time.

We now replay at the City Ground on Wednesday March 2, kick-off 7.45pm, with the winners facing a trip to Newcastle United in the quarter-finals on the weekend of March 12/13.

Martin said: "I think we should have won and if you score three or four goals it's no problem.

"But we didn't score the second goal and if you don't put your chances away you've then got a problem. We had a lot of possibilities, eight good chances, 16 shots. Perhaps the shots weren't good enough on the day and the service from the flanks wasn't good enough.

"I think Forest will stick to their system, they did that even after we went 1-0 up. They did well and all credit to them.

"For us, it's about opening them up and we didn't do that and when we created situations, we didn't finish them off. It will be harder at their place but our team against a Championship side means we still have a great chance of going to the next round."

Meanwhile, Martin was disappointed to read that he'd 'slammed' his players in his post-match press conference.

He added: "The media want to find an angle to be critical and I want to be critical as well, but I don't slam players when I say the service must be better or the shots weren't good enough on the day. But the press find an angle. I would never slam a young player, for example. I played them so it's my responsibility."
