Martin Jol offers his considered view on the point gained against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday...IT WAS A tough battle from the first moment against Fulham on Saturday - very much the same as last season - in a good sense and teams are entitled to do that. We have to stand up and do something about it and I think we did that.

Going to Fulham and snatching a draw is not something I am particularly proud of but, on the other hand, we have lost on our last four visits there. To win away games you need to keep a good shape and that is not something we did at times.

In the home game against Newcastle we gave away a match we should have won and we went over to Fulham wanting to be a bit more rigid. I feel that we have made a little step forward and have now drawn three recent away games and conceded just two goals - one of them a penalty and the other a deflected goal against Portsmouth.

We have to be more confident in front of goal and create a bit more. We have to do a bit better from corners and free-kicks, sometimes we are okay and sometimes not good enough in that respect. We have got different people taking them as we don't have a real specialist, but I believe that Tom Huddlestone with his technique will probably be one who will do well at it in the future, while Jermaine Jenas has done well in the past.

It is something we have to work on and we are doing so, but we are still young and I am convinced we will improve on it soon. We are not currently at a high level all the time in all departments and that is why I was not happy on Saturday, but still satisfied that we got something out of the game after falling behind.

We wanted to exploit the situation of playing against ten men following the sending of of Helguson, but they scored and it was a poor position for us to be in. We had seven minutes to something about it and luckily enough that is what we did.

It is a fine line between doing well and doing averagely, but if you consider how we are doing in all the cups, we are not in a bad way.
