Our last-gasp defeat to Newcastle on Wednesday was hard for all of us to take.
Our performance in the first half was disappointing - it goes without saying, with us being the home side. That type of game against high calibre opposition is generally one where we would raise our game and put on a performance.
We were certainly delighted with the performance in the second half, where I think we upped the tempo and got at them. Of course, if Gus's goal had stood it could have put us one the way to a victory.
Having said that about our first half showing, there was never any lack of application. In most performances you can't accuse players of not trying or not wanting it enough - that goes without saying.
Of course, there are days when we've played with more imagination, been more inventive and enjoyed the rub of the green a bit more. On Wednesday we didn't have as many chances as we would have liked, but neither did they.
It was heading towards a draw until those last few seconds.
We now have to clear our heads for the challenge of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. However well or badly either team is doing, it is always a very difficult game - as we know.
They've certainly enjoyed the upper hand over the last ten years or so, but I think it is about having confidence in your ability as a side.
We went away to Aston Villa and got a result and sometimes it is about putting it into perspective. Villa went away to Middlesbrough in the week and managed to score five goals.
We know we are capable, there is no doubt about that. Chelsea are an excellent side, they tend to retain the same shape these days and can score goals from most areas. Probably the biggest change is that they've become very strong defensively as a team.
We are always confident going into games and this is no different - but it will be a very difficult game.
