The foe you know - Stoke's Peter Crouch and Kevin Wimmer

In this week's instalment of our recurring ‘The foe you know’ feature, we shine the spotlight on Stoke City's two ex-Spurs stars – Peter Crouch and Kevin Wimmer.

Macclesfield-born striker Peter Crouch moved to London at a young age with his family after a spell in Singapore and came up through our youth system but, unable to make his breakthrough, he joined Queens Park Rangers in 2000.

By the time he came back to Spurs in 2009, he'd plied his trade for a plethora of top clubs including Portsmouth twice, Aston Villa, Norwich City, Southampton and Liverpool.

A Division One winner while on loan at Norwich in 2004 and FA Cup winner at Liverpool in 2006, the towering front man added a new, useful dimension to our attack when he returned following his second spell at Fratton Park.

Scoring his first hat-trick for us in a 5-1 League Cup win over Preston North End in September, 2009, just a couple of months after signing, he repeated the feat in the home leg of our Champions League play-off round tie against Young Boys Berne at the beginning of the following campaign, having famously headed the goal that saw us qualify for the competition for the first time at Manchester City in May, 2010.

A frequent scorer, 'Crouchy' again netted a crucial goal in February, 2011, giving us a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in the San Siro – a strike that ultimately decided our Champions League last 16 tie and put us into the quarter-finals of the competition. Sadly, he was sent off in the Bernabeu as we crashed out to Real Madrid at that stage.

Having scored 24 goals in 93 appearances for us, Peter moved on to Stoke in 2011 and has been a loyal servant to them ever since. Dropping in and out of the side, the evergreen striker, now 36, made a record 143rd Premier League appearance as a substitute when he came off the bench against Brighton & Hove Albion on November 20. He recently penned a new deal at the bet365 Stadium and, ahead of Saturday's match, has netted 57 goals in 214 appearances for the Potters.

Strong centre-half Kevin Wimmer arrived in north London from German side 1. FC Köln in the summer of 2015 and quickly established himself as an extremely popular figure at the club due to his unassuming manner and willingness to work hard.

He had to wait until January, 2016, for his Premier League debut, going on for an injured Jan Vertonghen in the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace that was famous for Dele Alli's wonder-goal. The left-footer subsequently started the next nine top flight matches and proved an able deputy for Vertonghen alongside Toby Alderweireld in the heart of our defence.

Having represented Austria at Euro 2016, Kevin found his opportunities limited in 2016-17 and only managed 10 appearances in all competitions. The last of his 31 overall games for us came against his current employers in February, 2017, as we won 4-0 against Stoke at White Hart Lane.

The Potters swooped for Kevin's services at the start of this season and he's so far made 10 appearances for them. A regular starter for Mark Hughes' men in the main, he dropped to the bench for a recent defeat to Liverpool but came on for the injured Bruno Martins Indi in last weekend's 2-1 victory over Swansea City.
