The Doc's back
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gary Doherty made a lively return for the reserves at Charlton on Thursday night and was nearly rewarded with a goal.
Doc came on after the break and went straight up front, then switched to defence and then back up front.
Despite his long absence with a broken leg, Doc looked pretty much his usual self - strong and cool at the back, while comfortable on the ball and a right old handful in attack.
"To start off I thought I was only going to get the last half an hour, but I felt quite good," said Doc afterwards. "I felt good when I was playing the game and everything went well so I'm quite happy - except the result.
"I was always going to start up front and try and get a little blow and then go back and fit in there. The ways things panned out, we started losing and he wanted to play four back and try and nick a goal late doors so I was happy to go back up front - it's no problem for me.
"I felt quite comfortable, I was quite happy with my touch and thought I made a few good breaks forward from the back. I'm happy with the ways things went in what was my first outing in six months.
"I was nice to go out there, get the shirt back on and get playing."
Doc was denied a goal that would have made it 2-2, applying a sweet finish to Matthew Etherington's cross.
"It was definitely a goal, I certainly thought it was. It was a great delivery and a good move. Ball out of the back, got it wide to Matty who put in a great ball for me. But the referee is always right, isn't he... ?"
