The day Spurs scooped the world - on e-Hotspur
10 July 2013|Spurs Comms Team
It was 35 years ago today – July 10, 1978 – that ‘Spurs scooped the world’.
That was the famous headline on the back page of the Daily Express on July 11, the day after club made two of the most significant signings of the modern era – Argentinian World Cup winners, Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa.
Keith Burkinshaw was the manager who guided the club back to the ‘glory, glory days’ and the man responsible for the arrival of Ossie and Ricky.
He paid a visit to our new Training Centre last week and, 35 years on, we asked for his recollections of that magnificent transfer coup.
This is one of three new features in e-Hotspur, making it eight in total in the all-new area of tottenhamhotspur.com.

Other all-new features in the magazine area include a 'Tottenham Ten' quiz to test your Spurs knowledge and 'Cover Story', where we take a look at how our players have appeared in magazines over the years. Feature this time is Johnny Morrison with a re-print of a cover from way back in 1936!
