'The commitment is there' - Andre
Andre Villas-Boas has praised the attitude and application of the squad in his first two days of pre-season training at Spurs.
Our new Head Coach has overseen the start of preparations for the 2012-13 campaign at Spurs Lodge this week - and he’s been delighted with what he’s seen.
The pre-season programme will take in a first friendly at Stevenage on Wednesday week, July 18 and builds towards the date that really matters exactly a month later with a trip to Newcastle on the first weekend of the Premier League.
“We’ve started pre-season without a couple of players due to international duty, but the returning group of players has worked really well in the first few days,” said Andre.
“I’ve great first impressions because you can see the commitment is there and that’s what we want to take into the new season.
“They have been excellent professionals in the way they have put in the effort for us.
“The level of intensity has been very, very high.
“We soon travel to America, players will arrive and we will continue to work to try and achieve optimum fitness and performance levels so we are ready for Newcastle on August 18.”
We travel to America on Saturday, July 21 with friendlies against LA Galaxy on July 24, Liverpool in Baltimore on July 28 and New York Red Bulls on July 31.
