The Class of 61-62 return

03 November 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Three members of our first ever European Cup campaign were present for our Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley on Wednesday.

Cliff Jones, Terry Medwin and Eddie Clayton were part of Bill Nicholson’s squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1961-62 competition, narrowly losing out to a Benfica side that included the likes of Eusebio.

It was a chance to pay homage to where our illustrious history in European competition began, with Chairman Daniel Levy spending time with our guests at the game.

There were more heroes present on another record-breaking night at Wembley with Richard Whitehead MBE and Pamela Relph MBE presented to the crowd at half-time - two Spurs fans that recently won gold at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.
