The acid test

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle believes Sunday's cracker against Leeds United will be the acid test for our continued renaissance under his management.

We travel to Elland Road on the back of four successive wins - three in the Premiership - and we've moved up to seventh in the table.

But David O'Leary's men top the table, are unbeaten in 10 games and have yet to concede a goal at home.

The boss is quick to point out that although we've acquitted ourselves well against Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea, games we could have won, we've yet to take a point against the big guns.

He wants to put that right on Sunday. "We have to assess the season and look at the three other teams we've played out of that top four and we haven't beaten them," Glenn pointed out.

"Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea - we've performed well enough to get something out of those games.

"This will now be another sign to see if we're progressing, to go to Leeds, who are in that top four and get a result there.

"Once we start turning those performances against those top clubs into good results then we really got a chance of believing in oursevles.

"I'm hoping it comes very quickly. Someone might have asked 'when do you expect that to happen' and I would have said maybe 18 months, two years into my reign but there is no reason with the way we are playing at the moment that we can't do it sooner rather than later."

Glenn is aware that people are starting to take notice of his new Spurs.

He added: "People are starting to take note of how we play, which is important, but I would say to them we've got ourselves into a position and the test comes now against Leeds and Arsenal - two teams that, if we are going to achieve anything over the coming seasons, we've got to make sure we're right up there with them.

"There is no greater test than the next two games coming up and we're fully aware of that."
