Thanks for your shirts
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
The Club would like to thank all supporters who joined us in donating shirts to BBC Radio Five Live's shirt amnesty. Supporters across the country have donated 15,000 shirts in all, that's a full kit for 1,363 teams!
The shirt amnesty is a push to collect thousands of old football shirts and send them to fans in South Africa, where replica kits are difficult and expensive to come by. The shirts will travel to South Africa today and follows the England team who arrived this morning for their friendly international on Thursday with the South African national team.
The Club has sent a batch of our old shirts plus others kindly donated by children in our Football in the Community scheme. We have also donated a shirt signed by the first team players and coaching staff, which will be auctioned to raise money for good causes in South Africa.
Campaign organiser Dawn Dunlop has been overwhelmed by the final number of shirts: "The campaign has been a massive success and we couldn't have reached such a large target without the support from clubs such as Spurs who have given us their full support."
