Teemu Tainio relished making a speedy return from injury against Charlton and is ready for the quickly approaching challenge of taking on Blackburn at the Lane on Thursday evening. The tigerish midfielder suffered an ankle sprain against Arsenal that was initially feared would keep him out of our remaining games but, as it turned out, he missed only the trip to Middlesbrough and was back snapping around the middle of the park at the Valley.
"It is not always easy to come back after two weeks as you have to work really hard to stay in the game, but we managed to win so it was good," said the Finn, who will clearly miss contests with Charlton following their relegation from the Premiership.
"I have played Charlton four times now and we have won all the games so I have really enjoyed them! They are not a physical side, they try to play, but I thought they would come at us strongly and it didn't happen so much after Dimitar's early goal."
The brilliant seventh minute strike certainly did alter the course of events at the Valley, it was Dimitar's 22nd goal of the season and Teemu anticipates an even bigger return from the striker in seasons to come.
"Paul Stalteri told me he would be very good, he has shown that and I expect him to keep getting better," he continued, adding that he expects a fierce challenge from Blackburn who are themselves chasing a European spot.
"Blackburn play a hard, fast, physical game. We need to win and we have to be ready for them. Thursday will come around very quickly."
