Ted's joy for Daz
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Teddy Sheringham says he is delighted that Darren Anderton is back in the England squad - and that he expects more to come from the midfielder.
Darren joined his club skipper Teddy in Sven Goran Eriksson's squad for Saturday's friendly against Sweden at Old Trafford.
It's the first time since last November that the 29-year-old has been involved and is just reward for a string of fine displays after the setback of further Achilles surgery in the summer.
Teddy enthused: "I'm delighted for Darren. It was a big plus for me coming back to White Hart Lane knowing that his sort of quality was here and the players that were being brought into the club.
"It made it very exciting for me and my thoughts haven't changed. It's been tremendous meeting up with him and playing with him again and enjoying the understanding that we had when I was first here.
"He's had a lot of injuries and he;s had to take alot of stick over the last few years and it shows the strength of character he's got that he's come through with shining colours at the moment.
"But I think there is still more to come from Darren. He's had a lot of injuries and I know what it's like when you've been injured and you just start playing again.
"All you want to do it be fit and that's not what you should be thinking about when you are footballer.
"I know and he knows that when he starts playing freely you'll see even more better play from Darren.
"Even though he's been oustanding from that start of the season there is more to come from him and Tottenham."
Teddy then paid the ultimate compliment to his friend - stating that, if fit, Darren would have got into any of the great teams he's played in over the years.
He added: "I've always kept in touch with him even when I was at United and he has had very low times with the different injuries he's had.
"It's just so nice to see him playing so well again and fit.
"He's an exceptional player and would fit into any team I've played in over the years, England and Manchester United.
"I can't hold him in high enough esteem really. I think he is a great player."
