Teddy Sheringham's programme notes v Newcastle
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
After our disappointing Christmas period, it was imperative that we came out of that spell as quickly as possible and we've done that in our last two games.
Beating Everton in our last match here was no mean feat because they've been riding high. Fair enough they did have a lot of injuries on the day, but I thought the lads set about the game in the right manner, it was a very end-to-end match with goals flying in all over the place!
But we stuck to our guns and Robbie came up with a magnificent hat-trick, probably one of the best I've seen for a long time, he thoroughly deserved the man of the match award and we deserved the three points, a great win after the spell we'd had.
That took us onto Aston Villa in good spirits, it's always nice to play away having won a home game. We looked very comfortable in our whole approach and really got at Villa.
I heard reports that we didn't play particularly well but it was a very professional performance, similar to the way we played at Charlton earlier in the season. We stopped them from playing and got the ball down and played relatively well without being dynamic.
It was a bit of a dodgy pitch but we came out on top and there was only one team which was going to win. I didn't realise we hadn't won there for such a long time.
Tonight's game is another crucial one. I've got nothing but admiration for the way Bobby Robson gets his teams playing, they're always very organised, and play the same way as Manchester United. They're very dynamic, they break very quickly and are great to watch as well.
We've had a couple of good games against them in recent years and I'm sure this will be another one. It's great to see Alan Shearer continuing to score goals as he has done throughout his career. Just as well really because although he's four years younger than me, he looks four years older!
Finally, a special mention to the recently departed Les and Clem, two great lads who fitted in well at the club and I hope they go on to do well at their respective new clubs.
