Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Teddy Sheringham has put all thoughts of England behind him this week as he attempts to be ready for Saturday’s Premiership opener against Aston Villa.
Double Player of the Year Teddy would surely have been part of Sven Goran Eriksson’s squad to face Holland in Wednesday’s friendly at White Hart Lane but for a nagging Achilles problem.
Teddy admitted: “It would have been nice to have been involved with England but my main priority at the moment is to play for Tottenham and to be fit for the start of the season. England’s England but I want to play for Tottenham.”
Teddy has fond memories of the last time England played Holland.
He was on the scoresheet and played a pivotal role in what must rank as the best England performance of the last decade — the 4-1 victory in Euro 96.
“I have fond memories of playing Holland in Euro 96, of course and we are producing for England at the moment,” he said. “The boys have been performing well recently, I personally have been very impressed and long may it continue.”
Teddy felt a problem with his Achilles a fortnight ago. “I’ve been told to rest it and things are looking very good in that department now,” he explained on Friday.
“I feel a lot better, a lot more comfortable on it and hopefully I’ll be jogging in the next couple of days and then getting back into it after that.
“I’m still optimistic of being ready for the start of the season but I’ve not jogged on it yet and they say with an Achilles you have to be very careful because if it comes up again I could be out for or five weeks.
“So if there is anything in there I won’t go ahead with what I’m doing. But the plan at the moment is that I’ll be jogging in the next few days and going from there.”
