Teddy: Horrible game
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Teddy Sheringham netted his sixth goal of the season against Birmingham City on Saturday, but described the encounter as a 'horrible game'.
The skipper gave us the lead ten minutes into the second half after good work by Christian Ziege, but the home side levelled 13 minutes later with Jeff Kenna scoring his first goal for the Blues.
It was never likely to be a free-flowing exhibition of football against the highly-charged promoted side, but Teddy says the team were fully aware of what they would be up against and was disappointed that the lead was not preserved.
"A little bit disappointed - it was a horrible game," said Teddy. "We knew it would be scrappy, we watched videos and we knew they would rattle into us and get the knock downs as it is the way they play.
"To be fair, they got the ball down and passed as much as they could.
"It was a horrible game to play in really, it was hard work. Having said that, when we went 1-0 up it would have been nice to have hung onto it. It was an important ten or so minutes to keep the ball, get them running around and let the crowd settle down.
"We didn't do that, couldn't do that. Credit to them. When you go 1-0 up you expect to win, but it didn't happen.
"I'm pleased with the goal, but disappointed at the outcome."
