Team talk inspires youngsters ahead of Premier League Schools Tournament

12 May 2017|Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs Ladies’ manager Karen Hills yesterday (Thursday, May 11) gave a team talk to young players representing the Club ahead of this year’s Premier League Schools Tournament at Stamford Bridge on May 23.

Each of the 20 Premier League sides previously held their own heats to determine which schools will be representing them in the competition at Chelsea’s home ground, with over 11,000 young people and 1,400 schools taking part in the process.

Ahead of the big day, the Under-13 girls team from Goffs School in Barnet and the Under-11 boys team from Muswell Hill Primary, who won the chance to represent Spurs, took part in a bespoke training session put on by Tottenham Hotspur Foundation coaches.

Karen then gave advice to the children about the importance of resting the night before, pre-match nutrition and how to overcome nerves.

Speaking at the session, Karen said: “Both teams trained really well today and you can tell how excited they are to represent the Club. Hopefully they can take on board the advice we gave and I wish them the best of luck.”

The Premier League Schools Tournament will take place at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, May 23. The annual competition gives children an authentic matchday experience, as they walk out to the Premier League anthem wearing their side’s kit. Representatives of all 20 clubs take part in two six-a-side competitions running simultaneously on the pitch – an Under-11s mixed team tournament and an Under-13s girls tournament.
